A 3yr old Bulldog was Killed Thursday

A three year old French Bulldog died of heatstroke and trauma due to being locked into a parked car for half an hour outside the Watertown Mall, in Boston, yesterday afternoon. Local police were called to the parking lot around 12:42 pm and found the dog unconscious inside the car.

The bulldog was taken to the Watertown Animal Hospital but veterinarians there were unable to save it. Police are now investigating the incident and it is still unknown whether the owner of the dog will be cited or charged with cruelty.

It only takes a few minutes for a pet locked in a closed car to succumb to the heat. Experts say it only takes a few minutes for a dog to succumb to the heat inside a closed car. The temperatures in Boston area at noon Thursday are said to have been around 80 degrees at the time, with the temperature inside the car exceeding 160 degrees as the sun turned the interior of the vehicle into a solar oven.

It’s very important to never leave your pet or child in the car, even if you only plan on being gone for a few minutes. Every year we hear of accidental deaths due to an owner mistakenly thinking they would only be away for a minute and that the car won’t have a chance to get too hot.

Its better to be safe, then horribly sorry.
