Dog Training Through the Use of Kennels and Cages

When choosing a dog kennel for your pet, keep in mind that not every type is right for every dog, and not every cage is right for every situation. Some are kennels made for transporting small dogs in vehicles and are made for the ultimate comfort experience. Others are made for extremely large pets and are build to maximize security. Dog cages can be made in virtually any size imaginable (even large enough to house a room full of adult sized people), and have many styles that serve various purposes. Make sure to get one that suits your exact needs and specifications.

A travelling cage can be made of either hard plastic walls with metal bars for a door, they could be completely metal cages with a solid floor for the animal to stand on, or they might be all fabric with a mesh door and zipper roof. All of these are ideal for keeping your pet still while on a long car trip for vacation, or even for transporting the animal from one training event to another. It also makes a great way to carry your favourite canine when free roaming pets are not allowed.

Training cages and kennels are meant to be used indoors, mostly, and can be used to aid in potty training your animal, punishing him when he does something wrong, or even to just keep him off the furniture when nobody is home. By keeping the dog in the cage at night when you don’t want to take him outside to “do his business”, you can teach him to operate his body on a schedule that best suits your needs and schedule. When he does something wrong, you can put him in his cage as a way of solitary confinement. It won’t take many unwanted trips into the closed off space for him to learn when something is considered bad and not to be done. It also makes for a simple way to keep your animal from ruining the house when nobody is around to watch and play with him.

And finally, there are numerous kinds of cages for outdoor purposes including kennels (cages with wooden floors attached to a small doghouse, perfect for both moving around outside and sleeping in a cozy house), runs (similar to kennels only sturdier and with elevated legs), and walk in cages (much larger cages that can fit several large dogs and even people).

I am called Darren, and am a lover of all types of Dogs, both big and small. I run a site on Rare Dog Breeds The site has a really interesting article on the use of Kennels cages for training and transportation of dogs.
