Beauty in the beast

A 16-week old English Bulldog, named Diablo, was crowned the Overall Bulldog Beauty Contest winner on Sunday at the 5th annual Houte Dogs Bulldog Beauty Contest at Marine Stadium in Long Beach.
Over 400 dogs competed in the event, including; Bulldogs, French bulldogs and Pugs. There was even a division for Senior Dogs of all breeds and mixes to compete in, so long as they were over 10 years old. Some dogs traveling from several states away in order to compete for the coveted 2009 titles.
The contestants walked down a 100 foot long red carpet runway to be judged on personality, charm, facial features, figure and first impression.
2009 Bulldog Winners included:
Senior Dog: “Bailey” - 12 yrs., Miss Long Beach
Pug: “LT” - 2 yrs., Mr. Fullerton
French Bulldog: “Buster” - 2 yrs., Little Mr. Irvine
Olde English Bulldog: “Bentley” - 10 mos., Little Mr. San Diego
English Bulldog: “Diablo” - 16 weeks, Mr. Hollywood
