Bulldog Bacon Burgers

Here’s a great recipe that Abbie absolutely adores! I’ve made these for Abbie and a Lizzie, spaniel friend of hers that is a RAW diet eater, and both dogs adored them.

½ cup brown rice
2 cups chicken broth
2 slices bacon
1 large egg
½ cup dried bread crumbs
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Put rice and chicken broth in saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat, reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered until the rice is tender, about 20 minutes. Drain off any excess liquid, transfer rice to a large bowl and let cool. In large nonstick skillet cook bacon until crisp, set aside and reserve grease. Finely chop the bacon and add to rice. Mix in egg, bread crumbs and cheese. Mix thoroughly, separate into four equal pieces and form into patties. Cook patties in bacon grease for four minutes on each side. Allow them to cool slightly before feeding to your pets.
